Professional Biography
For the last fourteen years Andrew Dane has been the founder and owner of Online Mediation Services. Specialising in International Online Workplace Mediation and operating 24-hours a day, 7-days a week 365 days a year in any time zone and in any language. A recent case has seen him conduct the very first successful International Online Mediation case in Two Languages with the interpreter located in Tehran, Iran, on their laptop, one of the parties in in a different location in Tehran, Iran on their laptop, the other party in Esfahan, Iran on their iPad and with the mediator located in London, England on their PC. The most recent successful online workplace mediation case was in three different time-zones, with one of the parties located in Beijing, China on their iPad, the other party based in Bangkok, Thailand on their laptop and the mediator based in London, England on their PC. Many other successful online and face-to-face workplace mediations have been successfully conducted around the globe. In all cases a deep understanding of local cultures was paramount in resolving the dispute. During his career in HR Andrew has prepared cases and successfully represented respondents at over 50 UK Employment Tribunals, with his very first tribunal in 1976. He has successfully negotiated, on behalf of clients, more than 40 Settlement Agreements for the release of employee contracts and participated in numerous grievances, grievance appeals, disciplinary and disciplinary appeals. Witnessing at first-hand the heavy costs and time and wasted resources involved in litigation he undertook an intensive residential, self-funded mediation course submitting a 20,000-word dissertation to the Open College Network (OCN) to become an accredited workplace mediator. He undertook further training with Virtual Mediation Lab (VML) in Hawaii and qualified as an online mediator. A down-to-earth practical approach based on a long career in Human Resources and holding Senior HR positions with both SME’s and several multi-national Civil Engineering and Construction companies. The combination of a clear and practical understanding and experience of employment law and people management provides him with a unique platform for successfully resolving all manner of workplace and employment disputes between individual employees, managers and trades union.
