Swati Chatterjee is the Hon. Secretary of South Kolkata Sannidhya (Regn. No. S/IL/65353 of 2009-2010), is a member in the Panel of Lok Adalat, West Bengal Commission for Women, Govt. of West Bengal and the initiator of MAROMI. With a team of highly established professionals, Swati started her own NGO called South Kolkata Sannidhya. It focuses on mainstreaming of the survivors and victims of deformities arising from burns and cleft-lip palate, through medical and rehabilitative process. As Hon. Secretary of South Kolkata Sannidhya, she has arrange and attend several workshops, trainings, seminars, conferences, consultations on different related subjects including Disability, SHWWP Act,’13 conducted by at national, state and international level. She also networks with and is a member of Aman & OBR (International), NAWO (National) and Maitree (State level) to advocate against domestic violence and support women’s rights and hence lends active support to victims in distress. She initiated, MAROMI, a network of NGOs and individuals working with the medico-legal issues related to the violence against women.
Swati applies her experience for policy-making exercises actively. She has been assisting different Government Departments in drafting policies on wide variety of subjects like – Violence Against Women (on the whole) specifically, Acid-attack, Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment. Since 2011, and is a Guest Lecturer on the subject for the Department of Women Studies, University of Calcutta. She is a member of the Internal Complain Committee (ICC) of Department of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal, National Institute of Fashion Technology and Barasat State University, Jaipuria College, Kolkata and the Anti-ragging Committee of IIEST, Shibpur (Formerly BE College).
