As an experienced IP Attorney, she spearheads the firm’s IP team managing IP portfolios of several national and international clients. Prior to joining the firm she worked in the corporate world for over a decade. With a total experience exceeding 18 years in legal and corporate world, she has an in-depth understanding of the micro and macro factors influencing businesses and aptly provides practical business legal advice to clients. She is one of the Panel Arbitrators at the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) to adjudicate on Domain name disputes under INDRP.
Lucy holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Japanese language from Jawahar Lal Nehru University, New Delhi. Additionally, she holds an Executive Diploma in International Business Management with specialization in Foreign Trade from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi (2004). She has been advising many Fortune 500 companies and some of the world’s most esteemed corporations from multifarious fields, on a range of contentious and non contentious IP matters. She regularly conducts due diligence with emphasis on IP related issues and leads the firm’s Trademarks, IP enforcement, IP watch and Domain Name dispute resolution teams.
She is actively involved in raising awareness of IP rights by penning articles which are published in national as well as international IP Journals, a few being, “Sensitive Names: the saga of .ram and gTLDs” and “Balancing the Odds – An evaluation of the .IN Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy”- published in the World Intellectual Property Review; “Reforms at the Indian Trademark Registry” – published in Asia IP; “Celebrity Endorsements – Pros and Cons” – published in Legal Era; etc. She was nominated as “Rising Lawyer of the Year” by Legal Era, a leading national IP Magazine. She is also a frequent speaker on IPR issues in seminars organized by trade bodies and organizations such as FICCI, etc.
She is a member of several national and international IP organizations such as International Trademark Association (INTA), Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA), International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), Supreme Court Bar Association and Delhi High Court Bar Association.
Prior to joining the firm, she had worked for more than a decade in the corporate world as Country Manager, Matsushita Electric Works Ltd., New Delhi now known as Panasonic. She played a key role in developing the country operations of the Matsushita Electric World Ltd. (Panasonic). During her time at Matsushita, she was trained at Panasonic headquarters in Kadoma City Osaka, Japan. She worked on several corporate matters while in Panasonic including setting up a joint venture, subsidiary, branch office in India, clearances from RBI, FIPB etc., safety certifications from BIS, legal advisory work on imports and packaging norms, Weights & Measures Act, commercial contracts, agreements etc.
She is also an avid adventure sports enthusiast and likes to play the piano in her spare time.
